Maybe Perspective is Overrated.

I'm checking up on homicide rates pretty regularly for the areas I'm visiting in Colombia and had an... erm... uncomfortable maybe perspective isnt so great... moment:

Medellin Homicide rate 1991: 381/100,000
2006: 29-30/100,000.

WAY better, amIright?

Oh wait.
Mexico 2012: 14/100,000
Mexico 2011: 18/100,000.
Baltimore 2010: 10.3/100,000

Still, I'm thinking about Wilson and Kelling's Broken Windows theory, and how much we fear crime when we look at statistics like this. I'm going to be very careful all the same.
