Funerals in the Rain

I spent the bulk of today in Wayland, MA for Marina's Funeral.

It was a really beautiful event -- memories, funny, bittersweet, charming, and heartbreaking, were all shared with us by her friends and family. Professors read some of her essays, told us about her thoughts and the work she wanted to bring into the world.

Some of my friends from high school and I stood outside a window because the church couldn't fit more people and it was already too crowded -- we held each other, sharing umbrellas and silent memories of someone who lived her life well. So many people from her life, past and present were there. So many came to pay their respects.

The rest of the day has been silent and reflective. And the promise of closure.
